Tear Trough Filler
As we age, we lose volume in the tear trough region – giving us tired eyes due to dark circles, wrinkles thinning skin and under-eye hollows. This ageing change can start as early as our late twenties and can cause a lot of distress when looking in the mirror.
Tear trough fillers are an effective aesthetics treatment for treating dark circles under the eyes and under-eye hollows due to volume loss. Precisely placed filler adds volume to the area, reducing the darkness, hollows and wrinkles. It also improves skin quality by boosting collagen production and hydrating skin from the inside.
At Aesthetics by Stephanie we use sophisticated fillers specifically designed and indicated for use in the tear trough area that are made of Hyaluronic Acid (or HA), a substance that’s found naturally in the body, but diminishes as we age.
Because HA is something that our body produces – albeit it in lesser quantities as we age – it’s happily accepted and restores hydration and plumpness to the tissues. Once injected into the skin it is easily broken down over a period of months. It’s far from permanent; which in itself is reassuring.
Tear Trough Filler
I won’t go anywhere else now. This was my first time having any sort of aesthetics treatment. I didn’t feel a thing, Stephanie explained every single bit of detail & my results are fabulous! Her clinic is also lovely, super professional & spotless. Looking forward to coming back!
Managed to get a last minute appointment with Steph for Tear Trough filler. The results are absolutely incredible and I’m so pleased she managed to fit me in. Excellent value too!
Stephanie made me feel at ease from the consultation stage, where she explained the procedures thoroughly and answered my queries. She continued to keep me at ease by explaining what was happening throughout my procedure. I was very happy with the end result! And i will definitely be a returning client!! Thanks again

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will the swelling last?
It varies from person to person, but most swelling occurs in the first 24-48 hours then starts to go down.
Some people have very little and don’t need any downtime and can go about their daily life straight away, although we wouldn’t plan it right before an important event just in case.
Can I use a sunbed after a filler treatment?
We don’t recommend using sunbeds for 2 weeks after filler treatment as you can get increased swelling.
Can I improve fine lines under my eyes with Tear Trough filler?
For fine lines, it’s more about trying to improve the quality of the skin, which is done using skin boosters like Neofound or Beautifeye.
These are injectable treatments placed under the eyes and carried out 3 times with 1-2 weeks between appointments to help tighten the skin by creating more collagen and elastin.
Tear trough filler will generally only deal with the hollowing.
Am I suitable for Tear Trough Filler?
Tear Trough filler is not suitable for clients with puffiness under the eye which is worse on waking. Additionally, if you only have dark pigmented skin under the eye without a clear tear trough depression then you are unlikely to achieve good results and an alternative treatment may be better suited to your needs.
Do Tear Trough fillers hurt?
At Aesthetics by Stephanie we use fillers that contains a local anaesthetic to provide a comfortable treatment. We use a cannula (a blunt ended hollow tube) which is inserted through only one injection point per side to safely deliver the product to the correct area with minimal discomfort and trauma.
Can Tear Trough fillers be combined with Other cosmetic procedures?
Yes. Combining these treatments allows patients to address various concerns simultaneously, such as reducing wrinkles, improving skin texture, and restoring lost volume in the under-eye area. This customised approach often leads to more harmonious and natural-looking results.
Are there any specific pre-treatment instructions to follow in order to minimise bruising or swelling?
It’s essential to follow certain pre-treatment instructions to minimise potential bruising or swelling. These may include avoiding blood-thinning medications like aspirin and ibuprofen for about a week prior to treatment, as well as refraining from consuming alcohol for 24-48 hours before the procedure. Additionally, applying ice packs immediately before and after the treatment can help reduce any inflammation or discomfort.
How soon after receiving tear trough fillers can I return to my regular daily activities, such as exercise or wearing makeup?
You can generally return to your regular daily activities quite quickly. Most people can resume wearing makeup within a day or two of the treatment
As for exercise, it is usually advised to wait 24-48 hours before engaging in any strenuous physical activity to minimise the risk of complications and allow the filler to properly settle.
Are There Any Natural Or Non-Surgical Alternatives To Tear Trough Fillers
There are indeed several natural or non-surgical alternatives to tear trough filler that can help improve the appearance of under-eye hollows and dark circles. Some options include getting adequate sleep, staying hydrated, applying cold compresses or chilled tea bags, using skincare products with ingredients like retinol and hyaluronic acid, and applying topical lightening agents for dark circles. Additionally, in-office treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser therapy may provide noticeable improvements without the need for injectable fillers.
