Hi everyone, I feel blessed that Aesthetics by Stephanie has seen lots of new patients arriving through our doors recently and it occurred to me that lots of you don’t know much about me and why I love aesthetics.
What better way to help you find out what makes me tick than to get Stuart to interview me!
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Honest, loyal and hard working
How do you start your day?
I always try and fit in a HIIT session every weekday morning to kickstart my day. This is sometimes made difficult when our new spaniel puppy Obi tries to get in on the action!
Where would you like to travel?
I have been extremely lucky to have visited many countries over the years and experienced different cultures. I would love to travel to Australia one day and catch up with family who have emigrated there. Going on Safari in Africa is also a bucket list wish of mine!
Why do you love working in Aesthetics?
What’s not to love?! I have a genuine passion working with people, my 20 years in dentistry have taught me that. The difference in aesthetics is that you can make a genuine change to peoples self esteem and confidence in a matter of minutes.
To me it’s never been about the fake look, or making people into something they’re not. I believe that growing old is a privilege and we should embrace it, but my role is to help maintain the best version of yourself along the way.
The natural high I get from seeing patients’ reaction to my work when they look in the mirror is better than any drug!
What’s been a recent achievement?
Passing my recent clinic inspection with Healthcare Improvement Scotland and achieving the grade of exceptional in mains. This is a huge achievement and very difficult to obtain, in fact I believe I am currently the only aesthetics clinic in Scotland to have this grading at the time of writing.
Do you have a top beauty tip?
Drink at least 2 litres of water each day, get outside for a walk and some fresh air to clear your head when you can and always remove your makeup before bed!
If you could only use one product for the rest of your life what would it be?
SPF! I am ashamed to admit I started late in life looking after my skin in the sun, and I cannot stress enough how important it is to protect your face from the ageing effects of the sun. I love Heliocare Color Gelcream which is a tinted SPF50 so you can still look sunkissed whilst playing it safe.
Favourite treatments to perform?
I really enjoy treating the full face with dermal fillers, particularly restoring lost volume in the cheeks. It is amazing watching the transformation happen before your eyes and I just love the confidence boost it gives my patients.
What’s your top dermal filler range and why?
By choice, I have been using Teoxane products for over 10 years and I am really impressed with the RHA range for most treatment indications. I feel this brand is of extremely high quality, integrates well into the tissues and delivers soft and natural yet long lasting results which is just what my patients want. I am always looking into researching other brands with strong evidence based results.
Favourite treatment to receive
BioRePeel with the 4Ever pretreatment facial. My skin feels absolutely amazing afterwards and I feel it complements injectable treatments perfectly.
Trend you would like to see disappear forever?
Russian Lips! I think they are there most unnatural and hideous looking lip treatment around, not to mention incredibly traumatic and carry a higher risk of filler migration. Thankfully, I am seeing a trend more towards a natural look from lip fillers (including dissolving old overfilled lips) so hopefully the stuck on ‘Bratz doll’ look will soon be a thing of the past.
What can your patients expect from you?
Natural and safe results, with a clear roadmap on how we can achieve your goals. This will always be delivered in a pressure free environment where all risks and benefits will be discussed in detail. I want my patients to feel good about themselves and their tweakments and they should feel important and heard from the moment they make contact with me all the way through their patient journey.
What is your main goal for the next year?
To continue to grow my business and always strive for excellence in the treatments I provide. I am regularly blown away at the success I have achieved so far, as I often see myself as a small fish in a big pond. However, the number of new and returning patients I see every week makes me believe I must be doing something right!
I am also planning on achieving my Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in aesthetics (not a requirement for working but I want to be the best possible practitioner I can be for my patients).
