Express Dermaplaning Facial

Treatment description

A Dermaplaning Facial is a gentle, non-surgical facial treatment that exfoliates the skin by removing dead cells and fine facial hair, known as peach fuzz. This technique aims to leave your skin smooth, bright, and youthful-looking by using a sterile scalpel to carefully scrape off the skin’s top layer, uncovering fresh skin underneath.

Dermabrasion involves a more intense exfoliation process performed by professionals using a special tool to sand away the upper skin layers, primarily targeting wrinkles and scars. It requires a longer recovery period.

Microdermabrasion is a gentler form of Dermabrasion that exfoliates using fine crystals to remove dead skin, suitable for treating fine lines and mild acne scars, with minimal downtime. The key differences lie in the instruments used, the depth of exfoliation, and the recovery time needed.

Smoother Skin: It effectively removes dead skin cells for a softer and more glowing skin appearance.

Better Absorption of Skincare Products: Eliminating the outer skin layer enhances the penetration and effectiveness of skincare products.

Reduces Signs of Aging: Stimulates collagen production, potentially diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

Improved Makeup Application: Makeup applies more smoothly and looks more even on exfoliated skin.

Typically, a Dermaplaning Facial is well-tolerated, with minimal side effects including temporary redness, swelling, or a tingling sensation. There’s a misconception that hair grows back thicker or darker, which is generally unfounded, although rare exceptions exist.

A Dermaplaning Facial is not advised for those with active skin conditions like acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, or sunburn, due to the risk of irritation.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, dermaplaning is not the same as shaving your face. Though they’re very similar, dermaplaning delivers exfoliation along with hair removal.

It’s common to feel a little stubble as your hair starts growing back in after dermaplaning. This doesn’t mean that your hair is thicker or more coarse. It has to do with the way each hair was cut straight across. The hair feels different to you, but it’s the exact same texture and colour as it was before dermaplaning.

Dermaplaning is appropriate for most skin types, especially those with sun damage, fine lines, dry patches, and dull skin but you should avoid a Dermaplaning if you have:

  • An active rash, sunburn, or moderate to severe acne or rosacea
  • Cold sore outbreaks
  • Eczema
  • Moles, freckles, skin tags or other skin growths
  • Psoriasis

The frequency of dermaplaning treatments depends on your skin type and individual needs. On average, it’s recommended every 4-6 weeks.

Dermaplaning is typically a painless procedure. You may feel a slight scraping sensation, but it’s generally not uncomfortable.

It’s best to wait at least 24 hours after dermaplaning before applying makeup. This allows your skin to recover and prevents potential irritation.

Many people notice an immediate improvement in their skin’s texture and appearance after dermaplaning. However, the full benefits of the treatment may take a few days to become evident.

Many dermatologists recommend dermaplaning as a safe and effective treatment for exfoliating the skin and removing fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). It’s often praised for its ability to make the skin appear smoother, brighter, and more youthful.

After a dermaplaning treatment, your face typically appears much smoother, brighter, and more youthful.

The process involves exfoliating the top layer of your skin, removing dead skin cells along with fine vellus hair (peach fuzz), which can make your skin look dull. This leaves the skin looking refreshed and allows for deeper penetration of skincare products.
